Justin Mockler's Online Portfolio
A collection of my current projects and interests.
A collection of my current projects and interests.
My name is Justin Mockler and I'm currently a Senior at the University of Rhode Island. I'm a double major in Computer Science and Writing & Rhetoric and I'm currently slated to graduate in May 2010. After college, I hope to get accepted into a graduate school in a program where I can focus my studies on Human-Computer Interaction. This portfolio is a collection of my past and present work in my areas of interest, which is updated often to reflect my many projects. Below is a detailed description of how I got interested in web-design and why I continue to make time in my schedule to take on new projects.

"You can do what?"
It's the first reaction that anyone has when they find out that I design websites for a living. It's not surprising because I started designing websites about eight years ago just for fun and exploring what was a mystery to me at the time. I don't remember an exact moment where it transitioned from just playing around to becoming my career goal, as I still enjoy it as much as I did years ago. Back in April 2001, I became good friends with Jeremy Stumbaugh, a freelance web-designer from St. Louis, Missouri. We started up a website devoted to video game reviews and I learned the skills necessary to be at the point I am today.
Although my work had dwindled due to being a full-time student with a part-time job in retail, I recently ended up getting my first official job as a web developer versus relying on freelancing. With that recent change, I've been able to advance my skills even further and it has given me a new enthusiasm for my work. That's why for this portfolio, I did not reuse my old portfolio design and gave it a fresh, new look. Now that this initial design is completed, I won't have much trouble keeping it updated with my new projects. Thank you for taking the time to browse through my portfolio, and be sure to use the Contact page if you want to get in touch with me about current or potential projects.
